Mark Woowdward, Pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, which in turn is home to the Mosaic Coffeehouse, wrote to let us that “Mosaic lives another day in another way”.
You may remember that Mosaic, the “pay what you will” coffeehouse and community center went on hiatus for a bit there. It’s back, sort of.
It is now operating at much reduced hours, with each day having a particular emphasis:
- Monday 10-1 pm: Hobby Day: Come share your hobby, learn a new one. Look for seminars on quilting, canning, gardening, book club, knitting, baking, and more. Have a great latte and grab some lunch.
- Tuesday 10-1 pm: Parent and Family Day: Bring your kids to play, meet other parents and care givers. Hear seminars of interest. Have a fantastic Chai and get some lunch.
- Wednesday 9-noon: Drop-in Shelter Day for the disenfranchised of our community. Tokens will be accepted on this day. Warm clothing, hygiene kits, first aid kits, help with connecting to services. Meet with a social worker.
Rebecca Michi, parenting consultant and children’s sleep specialist will be giving a workshop in the first Tuesday of every month at 10:30am. A retired Seattle pediatrician will be available every other Tuesday beginning October 21st at 10:30 am. That day he will be discussing virus E68. Currently every Monday for the next 5 weeks a knitting workshop is being offered by master knitter Christa Woodward. Learn to knit, help with projects etc.
Welcome back, Mosaic.

I hope it’s not another STD (Short Term Deal)
Marvelous. good for them1 I see those day hours only work for nonworking people.
I’m a crafter from way back, so glad you assigned hobbies to Mondays! I plan to be there starting next week.
We live nearby and visited Mosaic many times early on, gladly leaving generous contributions for the privilege and the cause. I was concerned about the sustainability of the business model though, at least in this area, and was sad we had to stop going there some time ago when it became too uncomfortable too often.
Although we don’t attend the church, their commitment to community building has always been an inspiration and very much appreciated. We’re very lucky to have these folks in our corner of the neighborhood. Thanks to Mark (and team) for your efforts!
Well now it looks like kids will just be doing drugs outside mosaic once a week. That’s a plus. Less drug paraphernalia to pickup now.
