Two more weeks of Wallingford Farmers Market, and this week’s post is dedicated to the husband/wife team Clare Breidenich and Carson Lemmen, volunteers for FamilyWorks.
Every Wednesday, around 7 pm as the market stalls get ready to close, Clare and Carson are there with bins going from stand to stand, collecting unsold produce, bread and other items from the vendors, loading them up and carrying them over to FamilyWorks food bank, for distribution to those who struggle to keep them family from going hungry. Jake Weber, FamilyWorks
Thanks, Clare and Carson, for your good work, and thanks to all the vendors who give to them every week!
The Wallingford Farmers Market runs every Wednesday, 3:30 – 7 pm in Meridian Park, but wraps up for the year next Wednesday, Sept 24th.

Thank you, Clare and Carson! You realize how much food goes to waste in our country, and in Wallingford, and take action to get that food to neighbors in need. You also help the vendors who don’t have to worry about what to do with their surplus food, when all they want to do is pack up and go home. So simple yet effective.
Clare and Carson- we salute you! Thank you for you good work for our community.
Thanks for the shout-out, Jordan! We’ll look forward to seeing you at the Family Works dinner next month.
Clare and Carson,
You’re the best! That is some gorgeous farmer’s market produce you are bringing to the food bank every week – thanks for doing such heavy lifting (literally & figuratively!)
Thanks, Jordan, for making note of this! We really are thankful for all the people who make food justice happen – so many people! The farmers, the shoppers, the Market organizers, the community garden folks, our amazing volunteers and more! It’s a community effort, no doubt. Thank you all!
