The Wallingford Family Parade and Festival (neé Wallingford Kiddie Parade) is coming up on July 5th, and organizers are seeking volunteers. First, the official press release:
Seattle’s favorite children’s parade celebrates its 65th Anniversary July 5th at 11:00 a.m. in Wallingford. This summertime tradition and Seafair sanctioned community event is the longest running children’s parade in the region. Thousands of people from all over Seattle will line 45th Street to watch local businesses, drill teams, marching bands and family oriented organizations celebrate and compete for awards.
This year’s Grand Marshall is Seattle Tilth Program Director Lisa Taylor, who will lead the festivities through Wallingford to “Green Summer Up.”
The Wallingford Family Parade & Festival presented by Mack Urban starts at 11:00 a.m. and runs east along 45th Street to Bagley Avenue. The festival at Meridian Park features a market place with local offerings of food, arts and crafts, demonstrations and a Bites, Beer & Wine Tasting Garden. Expect bouncy houses and games for the kids and local musical entertainment.
The Wallingford Family Parade & Festival is co-produced by The Wallingford Chamber of Commerce and the Wallingford Community Senior Center. Festival hours are 12:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Heidi adds:
