Eater Seattle reports that there’s a new seafood restaurant coming to lower Stone Way, amidst Whale Wins and Joule, and cut from the same cloth:
…this summer, longtime The Walrus and the Carpenter general manager Joe Sundberg and The Whale Win’s Rachel Johnson, [“partners in life and in business,”] will open seafood-centric bar Manolin.
…Current Whale Wins sous chef Alex Barkley will lead the kitchen crew. Although the menu is still in flux, Sundberg says it will focus on small plates and fresh fish, including ceviche and crudo. A woodfired grill is also being installed to prepare octopus and whole fish. The bar program will center around sparkling wine, and spirits from the southern hemisphere, like good rum and tequila.
The build-out is underway at the spot near 36th and Stone Way, which “sits off the road and is entered through a courtyard.”
OK, so, Wallingford now has seafood themed SeaMonster and The Octopus Bar, and seafood serving Westward, Whale Wins and Manolin. I sense a theme.
Eater reports that Sundberg and Johnson plan to open their doors in July.

Went to The Whale Wins once shortly after it opened. Not my taste for sure. Beautiful interior, wood burning oven but NO pizza or foccacia? SMALL portions, $4.00 for bead and and butter. Trendy, smoke and mirrors sort of place. Small plates of stacked up roasted crispy veggies is the future it seems. Would have been a great spot for a pub with real pub food.
