Seattle Tilth is holding its annual Edible Plant Sale at Meridian Park Saturday and Sunday, 9 am – 3 pm:
Enjoy life’s simple pleasures – grow food!
Come to our May Edible Plant Sale and take advantage of the largest selection of organically, sustainably and locally grown vegetable plant starts in the Puget Sound region.
The May Edible Plant Sale takes place on Sat. and Sun., May 3 and 4, 9 a.m.-3 p.m at Meridian Park (4649 Sunnyside Ave. N, Seattle 98103) and is FREE to attendees.
At our festive annual gardener gathering, you’ll find an amazing selection of tantalizing veggies to choose from, with heirloom varieties and an extensive selection of culinary herbs, edible flowers and drought tolerant perennials. These plants have been hand-selected by Seattle Tilth’s garden educators, offering the best plants for our Pacific Northwest climate. This sale debuts summer gardening plants aka “warm season” crops like tomatoes, peppers, squash and corn.
There’s always a bumper crop of customers at this sale, so Tilth has a few strategies in place to help prune the lines:
You can pre-order a Garden To Go: a pre-selected set of plants chosen around your selected theme (e.g., “Container Gardens”, “Edible Plants for Kids”) that you can pay for on-line and pick-up on site. No substitutions allowed.
They’ll also be distributing wrist-bands so you don’t have to spend your Saturday waiting in line:
A staggered entry system allows the maximum number of people to enjoy the sale and keep the entrance flowing smoothly during the busiest times (usually Saturday 9 a.m.-noon and Sunday 9-10 a.m.). Enjoy vendors and activities in the lower field while you wait to enter the sale! Or come after noon on Saturday, and after 10 a.m. on Sunday.
And yes, there will be garden presentations, food, vendors, and music throughout the day. Come for the plants, stay for the fun!
Finally, we hear that a new edition of the famous Maritime Northwest Garden Guide will be on sale, hot off the presses this week. While the guide has undergone several updates over the years, this is the a brand new edition, written by Lisa Taylor and the gardeners of Seattle Tilth (about half new content), edited by Bill Thorness and design by Wallingford designer Heidi Smets.
