Undoubtedly, you have been asking yourself how you can spend your free time. Between your family, your job, your school and your friends, you are likely rolling in spare hours you’d like to wile away. What to do, what to do? Well, search no further, theWallingford Community Council has opportunities available that are time efficient, local, meaningful and much-needed. No resume required AND on-the-volunteer-job training provided.
The WCC meets the first Wednesday of each month, for two hours at The Good Shepherd Center. Topics discussed range from land use to events to parks to transportation. It’s a wide range, but the common theme is Wallingford. Over the years, theWCC has put in hundreds of thoughtful hours on projects and problems in Wallingford and has helped to shape the neighborhood we live in today. They have developed a working relationship with various councils in the city and beyond, and are respected by city and government agencies alike.
To continue doing wonderful work, we need wonderful people like you. We know you are busy. We know you do a lot. But we are asking you anyway. Most of the positions will take just 3-5 hours per month. Please look at the opportunities below and consider nominating someone or volunteering for a year. You’ll meet great Wallingfordians, learn about local government and help make positive changes right where you live.

- President: The President shall serve as chief executive of the Board of Directors and as ex-officio member of all committees except Nominating Committee; preside at all General Membership and Board Meetings, prepare agendas for meetings and perform such other duties as may be delegated by the Board. This position will take approx. 5 hours plus meetings per month. Current Pres – Lee Raaen
- Vice-President: The Vice-President shall serve in the absence of the President and perform other duties as the President or Board shall direct. The Vice-President shall maintain a list of members. Current VP – Erika Bigelow
- Treasurer: The Treasurer shall maintain accounting records of the Wallingford Community Council, receive and disburse Council funds, prepare financial statements as required by the Board, President or statute. This position has a 2-year term. Current Treas – Paul Willumson
- Recording Secretary: The Recording Secretary shall keep minutes of all Board and Membership meetings; supervise a permanent file of all minutes, unfinished business, records utilized in the business of the Council; and shall organize clerical services for the Council. Current Sec – Ted Hunter
- Board Members-At-Large: In addition to holding voting positions on the board, members-at-large may also chair committees or serve as WCC representatives to other organizations. Current Members-At-Large – Norm Davis, Jim Fryett, Mark Christiansen
