Thackeray resident and JSIS parent Laura Lahm recently published a book, Colorful Seattle – Explore & Color, a children’s coloring book of Seattle scenes. She sent in this post describing it
Close to Wallingford favorites included in the book are Gas Works Park, the University Farmer’s Market, the Burke-Gilman Trail, Woodland Park Zoo and the quintessential Fremont Troll. Expanding across the city, highlighted locations include Olympic Sculpture Park, EMP Museum, “Hat n’ Boots” sculpture found at Oxbow Park, Kubota Garden, Fishermen’s Terminal and the Central Library to name a few.
The spirit of the book is not just a coloring book, but rather tool to help folks get out and explore this great city. Take a look at the map and find someplace that you’ve never been before – – check out the neighborhood, find a new coffee shop, see something that is out of your normal routine. You have to admit when you see the humongous boots at Oxbow Park it just brings a smile to your face!
And well, yes, the coloring part is fun too: we provide the lines and you create the art!
And to encourage shopping locally, “Colorful Seattle – Explore & Color” is currently available in Wallingford at Wide WorldBooks and Maps and at Portage Bay Goods in Fremont.

Went into Wide World Maps yesterday. They said they’ve been sold out of this for a while. Say they’re planning on ordering more but don’t have an ETA.
This is Laura, creator and publisher of Colorful Seattle. I checked with Wide World Books & Maps and the books has been reordered, additionally it can be found at Portage Bay Goods in Fremont as well as other locations in town – – but I know we all like to shop locally when we can! Happy exploring and enjoy finding a new place in Seattle that you may not have seen before!
Thank you for following up!
