FamilyWorks Food Bank and Resource Center’s new volunteer coordinator, Elizabeth Ralston, (a mom of two herself) has frequently heard from other parents about the difficulty of finding volunteer work suitable for children. To fill this need, FamilyWorks has launched a “third Saturday” family volunteering program that connects families with projects that will benefit FamilyWorks customers. Email Elizabeth to join her email list and be alerted to future volunteer opportunities.
This month’s project is a food drive at the Wallingford QFC on February 15th. Since children have short attention spans, each shift is only one hour long. FamilyWorks needs six people per hour, so round up the whole family and sign up for your chance to make a difference. More information is available on the FamilyWorks website.
If you happen to shop at QFC this Saturday, buy a couple cans of food for the food bank and show those family volunteers some love!
Can Family Works be better? They work hard to empower at risk families and they work hard to facilitate a chance for families to volunteer to help at risk families. Love them. (heads up Kimberley- link to “email Elizabeth” is not working).
Fixed, I hope! Thanks for the heads up 🙂
