So, yeah, the Seahawks are in the Super Bowl for the second time ever. The odds-makers are calling a close game, with Denver eking out a 2.5 point victory.
So where will you be watching? Obviously, bars up and down 45th Street will be kicking: Murphy’s, The Iron Bull, The Octopus Bar, Al’s Tavern, Kate’s Pub and yes, Changes, will be hosting parties with drink specials and the like. Call for details, but it’s a safe bet they’ll all be opening around noon for the 3:30 pm kick-off.
But there’s lots happening beyond the bars in Wallingford, too:
Ivar’s (a Wallyhood sponsor) is offering a “12 Clam Chowder Pack” for Super Bowl parties. Get a gallon (yes, a gallon, serves about 20) of chowder for $24. Pick it up at Ivar’s Seafood Bar down by Lake Union or other locations. They also have a “12th Clam Soup-er Bowl” photo contest on Ivar’s Facebook page, which “asks fans to take a picture of themselves showing their Hawks and 12th Clam pride. They’re looking for loud, proud and outrageous entries (always in good taste, however) with the 12 most creative winning an Ivar’s Clam Chowder Party Pack (feeds 46 people).” To enter, visit the contest web site. Contest ends Jan. 29 at 10:59 a.m.
The Boys and Girls Club is competing with the Metro Denver Boys and Girls Club to see which city’s Clubs can raise the most money to support life-changing programming for youth. From now through February 4th at 12:00 P.M. PST, supporters, community members and football fans are encouraged to donate to their respective community’s Boys & Girls Clubs, with the goal of raising at least $48,000 for each organization in honor of the 48th Super Bowl. Make a donation and check the progress.
And the Wallingford Presbyterian Church (42nd and Ashworth) is hosting a “Souper Bowl of Caring Event”:
Leading up to Super Bowl Sunday (Go Seahawks!) we will be collecting canned goods and cash donations for Family Works. We will have bins on the parking strips outside the church for neighbors to drop off donations. The bins will be available from January 26 – February 2. Also, we will host a soup and bread lunch right after church (noonish) on 2/2 to get us ready for the football game. Everyone is welcomed.
What else?
