Nothing says autumn like some hand-cranked cider! This weekend you have two opportunities to enjoy some fall fun by crushing apples the old-fashioned way.
The Freeway Estates Community Orchard (FECO) is hosting their third annual cider press, which features an old-fashioned cider press (aka kid magnet), apple bobbing and a scavenger hunt. Head on over to FECO between 2 pm and 5 pm on Saturday to meet neighbors and partake of the apple harvest.
If Saturday’s event whets your appetite for cider making, you are in luck! On Sunday, City Fruit will be hosting a cider press along the Burke Gilman trail, featuring apples harvested from the neighborhood trees that City Fruit volunteers tend. You can also bring your own apples and a bottle, and press some cider to take home. From noon until 3 pm, the City Fruit crew will be on the Burke Gilman trail west of I-5. The closest cross street is 4th Ave NE (near Dunn Lumber).
it would be very helpful to have clear adresses
There aren’t “real” addresses for either of these events as they are on public land where there are no structures. Check out the map in the posting. It looks like 6200 6th Ave NE will get you within walking distance.
The Burke-Gilman cider event is on the Burke-Gilman Trail. If you can find I-5 or 4th Ave NE or even NE Latona Ave. and the Burke-Gilman Trail you will see the canopies tomorrow afternoon. The address 600 NE Pacific Street will take you to the street, then walk south to the Burke-Gilman Trail.
