The State of Washington will be shooting a TV ad August 6th all day aimed at encouraging folks to explore insurance possibilities provided by the Affordable Care Act. The shoot will be at the same location that Harry and the Hendersons was shot back in 1986, on Burke between 42nd and 43rd.
What what? Harry and the Henderson’s, that movie about an urban bigfoot, was shot in Wallingford? I thought maybe she meant Harry and Louise, the health care-themed commercial that ran back during the first Clinton campaign, but no, she meant the bigfoot movie.
From movie-locations.com:
The Disney-ish Bigfoot fantasy, which spawned the TV series, is set in the Pacific Northwest, where the Henderson family house, ‘437 Manning Drive’, is 4214 Burke Avenue North, between North 42nd and 43rd Streets in Wallingford, a northern suburb of Seattle.
Who knew?
Well, I knew! It was shot at the home of my son’s childhood friend!
I did. My friend was production secy. Everyone who lives in Wallingford at the time knows.
I’m just a Wallingford newb, I guess. If it happened before I got here in 1993, it’s ancient history! 🙂
Who knew Wallingford was a suburb?
Wallingford WAS a suburb until May 3, 1891.
I recently saw the last half of Harry and the Hendersons on some cable channel. It is indeed set in Wallingford and completely hilarious when they scurry out of the city towards Mt. Rainier, which is the Lake City exit from I-5 North according to the movie.
