Shannon Conner, Assistant Principal for 8th Grade at Hamilton International Middle School, will take leave of her post so she can serve as Principal for McClure Middle School.
In a letter to the Hamilton community, Shannon writes:
Dear Hamilton International Community:
I am writing this letter to you with very mixed emotions. Hamilton International has been such an ideal place for me to land and to begin my new career as an administrator. Here I learned so much about the intricacies and wonderment of truly skillful teaching and, because of our talented staff and student body, I came to understand that middle school is where I want to be. This is a school that is both resilient and resolute in focusing on student achievement and on helping our kids build extraordinary character skills.
I wanted to let you know that I will not be returning to my role as assistant principal Hamilton International next year. I was offered and have accepted the position of Principal of McClure Middle School in Seattle Public Schools. This was an opportunity that I could not pass up as McClure is a small, successful school in a great community. As an added bonus, my daughter will also be attending McClure next year.
I am both excited and nervous to take on this new challenge; and at the same time I am sad to leave HIMS where I have learned so much from you all. I am looking forward to sharing all of the amazing things that I have learned here and at Nathan Hale High School with another school in our district. I know I will be in touch with many of you in the near and distant future. I wish you all well as we embark on this next school year.
Yours,
Shannon Conner
