Finding a restaurant you can bring kids is one thing. Finding one where you can sit and enjoy your meal, that’s something else. Vios on Capitol Hill and more recently sharing space with Third Place Books in Ravenna created a model: good food paired with an open kids play area. Adults eat, kids play. Kids play, adults talk. To each other. Bliss.
Now, the Malaysian street food restaurant Satay (1711 N. 45th) has opened a new family friendly dining room:
The recently remodeled separate dining area offers an opportunity for multiple families with children to enjoy the perfect meal while allowing the kids to play with the extensive assortment of toys and games. Families with children of all ages are welcome to experience a fantastic authentic Malaysian menu including chicken, beef and tofu skewers, stir fried noodles, Malaysian curries and Malaysian fried chicken.
Not stopping there, Satay has also opened their doors to the other bane of the restaurant experience, dogs:
Wednesday nights offers a Dogs on the Deck dining experience where all dogs and their owners are welcome. Free dog treats are available and are provided free of charge by WallyPets in Wallingford.
Dogs and kids. Now we just need a restaurant that will let me bring my bees with me.
Wow, I’m surprised about the dogs, even if there is a notice about them. They just did a segment on KUOW this week about dogs at eating establishments and even if the restaurant owner is ok with it, it’s still again the law (and health code) unless it’s a service animal.
I love dogs, but have to consider the effect on those patrons that are allergic to dogs. At least at Satay, they are limited to outdoors on the deck, but some place are allowing them indoors.
I am excited to see a restaurant with a kids play area in Wallingford. How great!
