After sampling some delicious shortbread, Wallyreader Frankie tipped us off to the grand re-opening of the coffee shop/bakery adjacent to Julia’s. Hungry for some baked goods, I stopped by the new Seattle Espresso and nibbled a tasty chocolate/espresso/salted caramel shortbread cookie while friendly manager Scott gave me the low-down.
Seattle Espresso serves Lighthouse coffee, and every customer receives a free mini-shortbread with their coffee purchase. They will be expanding to include more organic coffee options and Italian ices for those hot summer days (we hope!). Most of their baked goods are made on-site, including the shortbread cookies and their variety of hand-held empanadas. They also carry gluten-free baked goods.
Scott is a veteran coffee-shop manager, and amenable to taking suggestions from the commmunity about what we would like to see at Seattle Espresso. He’s already heard numerous requests for scones, which are in the works.
With colorful chairs and hanging baskets decorating the exterior and Scott’s cheerful presence within, Seattle Espresso is the sort of place I could make a habit of visiting. That decadent shortbread didn’t hurt either…..
Wait. There are TWO Wallingford Frankies? This is bullshit. I am the original and best. This New Coke impostor is clearly a viral marketer for the US Shortbread lobby.
Yeah! I can’t wait to try Seattle Espresso and thank you for having gluten free treats!!
Please have hemp milk for drinks. Allergic to soy and rice or almond are too “watery.” Hemp is creamy and nutritious!
love this cafe, very reminiscent of the Euro tradition!
however, open hours are not conducive to patronage! closing at 2pm on w.e. and 4pm weekdays, too bad – never go anymore!!!
Thank you for the warm welcome by our Wallingford Neighbors!
We plan to expand our hours as business picks up.
Please stop in and say hello.
P.S. We have many organic dairy free alternatives, including HEMP MILK.
I hate to be the one to ask, but do you have wireless?
