American Pie, presently in Georgetown, is opening a new location in Wallingford Center tomorrow. Tony writes:
I opened a pie shop in Georgetown about 26 months ago. We make sweet pies, savory pies, empanadas and assorted baked goods.
We are coming to Wallingford because we think it’s a perfect location for our product. We have loyal customers who live in Wallingford and that is also a good reason. We enjoy making food and making people happy. We are proud of our food and people love our pie crust.
Our motto is “If you can’t make a good pie crust then you shouldn’t open a pie shop”.
Words of wisdom.
Holy moly, this news just made my day. I’m so excited. Mmm pie.
Sounds like a perfect stop after the parade. Yum!
We stopped by this evening — it’s the small alcove storefront on the north side of Wallingford Center, with the entrance on 45th St, that used to sell ties.
Tony was there himself — a very nice guy. Apparently they had a great opening day — many of their most popular choices were sold out, and almost all the meat-filled savory pies had been sold. (Though there were some fantastic-looking veggie empanadas left.)
We grabbed the last Chile Verde savory pie, along with a slice each of Strawberry Rhubarb and Sour Cream Apple Custard (American Pie’s best-selling pie.)
Went home and heated up the Chile Verde — absolutely delicious, and the crust is **AMAZING**. They live up to their motto. We’re saving the dessert pies for later this evening; I’m quite sure we won’t be disappointed.
They’re open 7 days a week. It’s solely take-out, though they have soft drinks for sale as well.
A great addition to the neighborhood. I plan to support this establishment *very* diligently (yum!).
Anybody know the new store’s hours or phone number?
Is that really their motto? How…lackluster and discouraging. All the creativity and good cheer must go into the pies.
Jordan D, the Wallingford American Pie is open the same hours as Wallingford Center: Mon-Fri 10-8, Sat 10-6 and Sun 12-5. The phone number is 206-816-9833.
Ffej, thanks for the nice compliments. I appreciate that very much.
