Wallingford Art Walk, continuing it’s “second Wednesday of the month” schedule, returns from 6 – 9 pm this Wednesday. Colleen Kurke will be hosting local metal artist Jason Stahl and his boat sculptures at Cutz Meridian (4515 Meridian Ave N).
According to the organizers, there will be 19 businesses participating, from Cafè Appassionato on the East to Slave to the Needle on the West (full map available on the WAW web site) and a drum circle at Wallingford Center Plaza “with live art” from 6 – 7 pm.
Wednesday should be the low 70’s, perfect art walkin’ weather.
We’d love to hear from anyone who’s been recently: how’s the turn out been? Any stand-out spots to visit?
Check your cardinal directions.
From what I saw, turnout in June was a little sad — not a lot of people, not much of a sense of engagement between the businesses and the artists or the artists and the public.
Notable exceptions were University House, which houses plenty of interesting works (some by residents) and had an enthusiastic staff and a nice welcoming spread, and Chocolati, where the artist was around to answer questions and talk about her collages. But we didn’t hit all the spots, so maybe there were other highlights.
Hopefully the Wallyhood mention will do the art walk good. Giving it another go tonight!
