Back in September, we told you the sad story about Nahla — the dog who had been stolen out in front of Kate’s Pub on September 27. We’re happy to report that Nahla was found, almost nine months later, and has been reunited with her owner, Mary, on June 3. We don’t have all the specifics yet, but here’s what was posted on the Help FIND Nahla Facebook page:
Nahla was FOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!! on June 3rd 2013 in the Seattle area. Details at a later date. Thank you for all the support and prayers, I felt the love throughout the last 8 months and it kept me going. Never give up on your loved ones no matter how slim the chances are. All things are possible if you truely believe you can do it! Please help by notifying your local shelters, vets, and anyone you may have told. Please list where you are going to notify first below so that we don’t have multiple phone calls. Thank you so much again for all the support.
Much love,
Mary and Nahla
H/T to Christina for sending us this link!
Hooray! Love the huge grins on both of their faces!
Wow! I’d love to hear the whole story. I hope no crime was actually committed. So glad pup and owner are reunited!
I said it before and I will say it again. Its very important to use this situation as a chance for people to understand and respect their animals. Dogs should be spayed and neutered, microchipped, and always be supervised. Her finding the dog now doesnt excuse that she omitted the obligations of a proper pet parent. I hope others who will see this will understand this is not to be hateful, but to broadcast that there is an important matter at hand. Properly providing for your pet requires responsibility, obligation to your dog and the community that you will keep this animal safe. Thank you.
I’m soooo happy for both of you!!!!!!
Man, what great news! I needed to hear a happy ending story like this today 🙂
I’m gonna need some details.
I am also glad that Nahla is back home with Mary. Thank you Melissa for bringing up several good points. I am sure that Mary has learned a lesson and will get Nahla spayed and NEVER leave her unattended in a public place again.
This is wonderful news! (How do we know the dog is not spayed? I don’t see how that is relevant to this particular story???)
So happy for Mary and pup.
I’m so thrilled! I was sick at heart last fall when I read in the Wallyhood blog about Nahla’s being stolen. I talked with my friend Paul Brown, the owner of Wally Pets, about it. You happened to be there in his store one time and he introduced us, so I met you and shared my most heartfelt best wishes with you in person. Since then, I’ve thought about you both a lot. I should also mention that my family and I took your experience to heart, We NEVER leave our two dogs, Hazel and Darwin, out front unattended anymore when we’re shopping.
I was so thrilled and relieved to read just now that the two of you are reunited. What a great photo! The sheer joy in both your faces says everything. Please do let us all know the details of how your long ordeal finally came to a happy end.
Congratulations on your great determination and inspiring success. Like Nahla, we’re so glad you never gave up.
Mary, I am so delighted that you and Nahla have found each other again! So happy for you both!
As Mary’s friend I’ve heard the entire story of Nahla’s safe return and Mary will be able to tell more of her story to all the wonderful supporters at a later time. Just know that Nahla is happily sharing her days with her Mary and the love between those two is clearly evident. Mary did learn a lesson in all this and promises to never ever leave Nahla unattended again. EVER! Rest assured that Nahla has been micro chipped and registered and has had a complete exam. She is one happy dog. I enjoyed watching Nahla’s tail wag happily at the sight of Mary and it melted my heart to see Nahla excitedly lick Mary’s face over and over again. Mary has been extremely honest with me in saying that of course she realizes that mistakes were made on her part and there will always be regret but that she knows better now and is so excited to enjoy the future with Nahla. This has made her a stonger person and a better pet owner. She wants people to learn from her mistakes as she has learned from them as well. A second opinion is needed from a vet in regards to whether Nahla was spayed as puppy and if she wasn’t, Mary intends to have her spayed asap. She does not desire for Nahla to have puppies. Mary is extremely grateful to the team of devoted women she had helping her search for Nahla. I’m very proud of the search team.
