I just walked past the mmj coop on Corliss and it looks like they’re out of business. All the signs are gone.
We dropped a line to the Truly Helpful Cooperative, the marijuana dispensary he’s talking about, for more details but didn’t hear back. We’ll be curious to see how the city’s many dispensaries fare once a medical prescription is no longer required to buy pot at a store later this year.
On a related note, The Golden Olive, the delicious Greek restaurant run by Greek-born Evyenia Haritos, has also closed. We dropped them a line, as well, but haven’t heard back any details. We had heard through the grapevine that it was struggling recently, sad to see it go.
Dude, you should trying reading Wallyhood. Closing of Golden Olive is old news:

Regarding Truly Helpful Collective, it was one of the 11 targeted specifically by the Feds: http://bit.ly/17vRXxX
It’s understandable the owners would back away from that threat. I hope the Federal agents involved would feel some sense of shame from wasting their life energy and taxpayers’ money chasing medical marijuana.
Regarding Golden Olive, I think the site will become a Turkish restaurant. I was at a show recently at Cafe Paloma in Pioneer Square, and the owner read an emotional Nazim Hikmet poem and announced that he was planning to open a Turkish restaurant in Wallingford. He mentioned that it would be on the site of a Greek restaurant (insert joke here). If the Paloma menu is indicative of what they’ll serve, I’m looking forward to it — especially if they’ll also have occasional live music!
