I’m wondering if you can shed any light on the roving “flock” of flamingos in our little corner of Wallingford. They were in the front yard of one house near us last week and I saw them in a different yard this morning. And now they are dressed in serapes and straw hats and are asking for money! I can send you a picture if you haven’t seen them yet. I love them and am so happy they are spending time in our neighborhood! As of this morning (6/4), they were in the front lawn of a house on the south side of the street on N. 49th St. between Whitman Ave. N. and Woodland Park Ave. N. Last week I saw them in the front yard of a house on N. 48th between those same cross streets, but that time they did not have “clothes” on.
Anyone have any guesses (or facts) on our neighborhood flock of flamingos?
guess: they need money fo rthe Fremont Solstice Parade for a float or band group or fo rthe Wall. Kiddies Parade
Why don’t you just ask the homeowner? That’s what people in other cities do when they have a question about something. Danged passive aggressive Seattleites post on blogs instead. It’s just weird.
This appears to be the “latest” in fund raising technique in fund raising….usually for a school or some other identifiable group. The flamingos show up on your lawn and you have to pay to get them removed.
Sounds like soft extortion.
or you just throw them away and problem solved.
I think it is the “Esperaza” group from St Benedicts church/school raising money to go to Mexico to build houses this summer.
These are a fundraiser for a local senior class in HS. Someone pays to have the flamingos appear in a friend or neighbor’s yard, and the friend or neighbor then has to pay to have them removed. A fun prank that helps raise money for their senior trip.
This is hilarious. Thanks for sharing.
