KIRO 7 News reports that Ahcene and Irinia Aribi, owners of a Wallingford convenience store, BBC Smoke & Wine (2315 N 45th St.), are under investigation by the Seattle Police Department for “Trafficking in Stolen Property.”
According to KIRO 7 News:
Documents filed in King County allege the investigation started more than a year ago when a Safeway employee shopping at BBC noticed a package of razors that still had a Safeway security sticker attached. Days later, an investigator saw packages of condoms with QFC stickers on the shelves. So Seattle Police detectives paid informants to repeatedly sell the Aribis wine and other items the informants claimed to have stolen, in exchange for $10 to $20. Those “stolen” items were then bought by detectives and placed into evidence.
KIRO 7 News reporter, Amy Clancy, interviewed the Aribis on Tuesday, who deny the allegations.

Oh good! Space for a new Thai restaurant.
@yabbajabba I hear Silver Tray is quite good. We haven’t tried it yet though but will.
They also sold crack pipes in there. I hope someone else will take it over and make it less seedy.
I went in there for a 6-pack of coke a few years ago. After I paid with my debit card, he put the card on the counter while he tore the receipt off the printer. When I picked up my card, he told me to give it back because he needs to write the card number down in his notebook. I told him there was no reason for that since the transaction had already been completed. He became angry and said he writes them all down in case the charge doesn’t go through. I refused, left quickly and never returned.
Silver Tray is VERY good! And the people are so nice, too. Good addition to the neighborhood I think.
Yeah, well. I would be overjoyed to have a smoke shop disappear from 45th.
You can still get crack pipes — sorry, glass-tubed ball point pens! — at a gas station on 45th. Those are not crack pipes at all…
WOW, what a story – right here in Wallingford! I had been wondering how they managed to turn a profit in that expensive spot.
I went in there yesterday to have a look see as of reading this article, and saw products on the shelves that were from 5+ years ago! Sooo very old, out-dated, and expired… Following picking up a water for $1.50 I confronted the woman working about seeing this article on here and at first she acted as if she had no clue as to what the hell I was saying but after further poking and proding she finally engaged in conversation with this statement “IF it were true obviously I would not still be here and my store open.” uh huh ya okay lady! Whatever floats your boat.
Ya, It truly is amazing, how SO much can go on in a HUGE city like Seattle, or a small community like Wallingford, without one single person knowing anything!
