If there’s one thing Wallingford (and Seattle) doesn’t have enough of, it’s sidewalk cafes. Sure, the weather renders them inhospitable for 9/10ths of the year, but oh, that other 1/10th, sitting in the sunshine and watching the world go by, chatting with your neighbors: heaven on earth.
So we reveled in the news that Ken L. just sent us:
Walking past Silver Tray this morning I noticed the SDOT application for a sidewalk cafe permit taped to their door. It sure would be nice to have an outdoor dining spot down here on the east end of 45th, especially one with both some southern and western exposure. You know, other than Dick’s parking lot, that is…
The application shows a thin area of outdoor seating running down Meridian, just across from the Chase bank.
We called Lucky, Silver Tray’s co-owner, and she confirmed that’s the plan. “We still have to wait for the inspector to say it’s all OK, and the permit says that people can give comments until April 18th, but we hope to have it open for the spring or summer,” she said.
She also said that today (Tuesday) is a big day her: it’s the two month anniversary of Silver Tray opening and her birthday! Don’t fret, though, no need to buy presents. She reminded us that Thai tradition doesn’t call for presents for the birthday girl: she’s the one giving the gifts.
Happy birthday, Lucky, and happy two-month anniversary. Looking forward to the ribbon cutting on your sidewalk annex.
Celebrate her birthday by eating at Silver Tray! It’s delicious!
I was just in there last night. Nice place, and looking forward to the outdoor seating.
Hoping this great new place will be dog friendly. More and more places are opening up to well behaved dogs around the city. (See Dog Gone Seattle). Sure would be nice to have one in our own community!
This would be wonderful, especially if it is dog friendly
Well, there is another restaurant coming—or so a workman told me when I walked by–it is a tiny space right next to Mighty-O near 55th and Meridian.
I love this place. Good food & outdoor seating – bonus!
I am totally a dog lover. However, I would not care to eat at a “dog friendly” restaurant. I don’t believe that dogs belong around places where we eat, nor do I believe that unruly, undisciplined children belong there either – and I had three boys. I go out to eat for a relaxing, enjoyable meal.
