Hi Wallyhood! Neighbor Ed here. I’m wondering if you can help spread the news?
I’m on the board at BikeWorks, a nonprofit that uses bikes to teach kids about bikes, leadership, life, jobs, work skills, fun, and much much more.
I’m coordinating a bike drive for BikeWorks on Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. We’d like any and all bikes or bike gear that may be lingering in garages taking up space so that our gifted mechanics can spiff them up and we can give them a second life. We’ll take any and all bikes and bike parts, though BMX and 20″ geared bikes are especially needed. In fact, we have ten $10 gift cards to Gregg’s Cycles for the first ten 20″ geared bikes we receive.
The bike drive will be located on the playground at Green Lake Elementary School, on Sunnyside Drive between N 65th St and Woodlawn Ave NE.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Hi folks! 20″ geared bikes is criptic, isn’t it? I mean geared bikes with 20″ wheels. They’re good for the 8-10 year old set. Even if you don’t have a bike or bike part to donate, please come on down to visit! We’d enjoy the company!
I have two bikes to donate.. but really hard pressed to get them to you! Any chance you have a pick up service?
@Linda – you could take them there on the bus. That’s what i plan to do. 🙂 Though doing that with two bikes would be a bit more difficult.
We’d love to donate a couple of bikes, but will not be around on Saturday at that time. Is there somewhere else we can drop them off at another time?
Hi Folks –
If you can’t make the bike drive this weekend, check out any of the drop-off locations on the following web page: http://bikeworks.org/recycle_donate.php (scroll to the bottom). At the recycling and disposal stations, look for the CleanScapes bike drop-off containers. They all go to BikeWorks. Thanks!
Ed
@Neighbor Ed, thanks for the info we plan to visit Bike Works!
