Have a child who’s ready to enter Kindergarten in the fall? Shelli Strate, a parent of KapKa Cooperative School (510 N. 49th St.) wrote to tell us about the school’s open house this Saturday, January 26, from 2-4pm:
This is the time of year when many families are exploring elementary schools, hoping to find just the right fit for their children. If are a local family interested in inquiry-based, progressive education, KapKa Cooperative School is a program you might consider. They have been around for 24 years, but as a cooperative elementary they are still something of a secret in the neighborhood.
Parents at the school say that their kids love KapKa because KapKa believes in the importance of childhood – in time to explore, in time to play, in time to question, in time to grow and learn at each child’s own pace. Parents love KapKa because they get to experience the school along with their children as they work, learn, and have fun together. Although the time and effort given may be significant, parents repeatedly say the rewards of participation are immeasurable.
They would love to invite local families to attend KapKa’s Open House on Saturday, January 26th, 2013 from 2-4 PM to meet teachers, hear about the KapKa experience, and tour the school. For additional information or directions, please visit www.kapkaschool.org.

Thanks for posting about KapKa School! Our daughter is in her 3rd year there, and we could not be happier! She loves it and so do we. Our son can’t wait to be old enough to start Kindergarten. It really is a fabulous elementary school.
