The Wallingford Community Council and Skanska USA Commercial Development recently signed an agreement to work together to develop a project of benefit to our community. The agreement is part of a settlement of WCC’s appeal of Skanska’s project at 34th and Stone Way. Among projects under consideration is one which will provide improved neighborhood access to Lake Union.
This joint project and other community issues will be discussed at WCC’s regular meeting on Wednesday, December 5th, 7:00 PM at room 202 of the Good Shepherd Center. Join us on Wednesday. All are welcome.
Improved access to the lake would be nice.
Some of us were talking about the idea of a small pocket park/viewpoint with water access (small public dock?) along the strip of waterway at the base of Stone Way.
This sounds interesting, but I’m not able to attend Wednesday night meetings.
Is there a place where we can read the minutes from the Wallingford Community Council meetings, and(or) learn more about the agreement with Skanska? Thanks!
I would like a puppy.

Of the various ideas floating around, here’s three that resonate with me:
1. A small solar install on that shed in Gas Works Park on the main path. Include signs that speak to getting away from ‘hard’ energy on the ‘soft’ energy path, and note that SPU should put solar on the new transfer station;
2. Improve Water Way 20. It’s fenced off now, and it looks like the Police are encroaching into it. No big improvement needed; just remove the fence and put in a path to it;
3. Improve Water Way 22 at the end of Stone Way. This could be a nice cantilevered deck over the water where the ferry from downtown used to land so people could get on the trolley to Green Lake. Some benches, picnic table, etc.
Why not?
How about funding for a greenway?
1.) lower the height
2.) have a glass upper level so we can see through it to the lake and sky
3.) stop the building
4.) figure out what the Center for Wooden Boats is doing and help them.. seriously.. its taken 4 years to get to?????????? what? a shuttered closed place?
5. ) review all plans and remove 20% concrete and replace with green.. grass, plants.. not surrounded by bark chips, but grass, wheat, wildflowers.. it can be done. Nature growa plants.
