Sad to hear that the Subway on 45th is closing on Tuesday. According to one of the employees, it is the slowest Subway in WA State. My kids loved it but we still have Taco Time!
We got the news too late last night to call for confirmation, will call and confirm today. Michelle tells us that the Subway down on the corner of 34th and Stone Way has papered its windows up, as well.

Yeah I never saw it busy in there, which is interesting because there aren’t really any other sub sandwich choices along 45th in Wallingford except for the QFC deli and the other Subway (45th/Roosevelt in the U-District).
Personally, I am happy to see these go. Might as well have been McDonald’s as far as I am concerned. Let’s hope a better, locally owned sandwich shop opens up nearby.
Like James, I’m not disappointed. My husband and I frequented this Subway on 3 or 4 occasions and each time, we experienced some of the worst customer service we’ve ever encountered. So it’s no surprise to us that it’s the slowest Subway in Washington… Hopefully, something better will move in.
That is a bad location since you can’t really see the sign. I also saw them trying to sell it for 53k last month. We went there a few times and it was always very slow and it took the guy awhile to come out from the back to make our orders.
I never saw the sign.. and it isnt a god location for drive up.
Personally I love Taco time for my junk ffod once a year.
As for the Subway on 34th and Stone Way, isn’t it being removed to make way for the new Brooks building?
…as for Subway in general, I shed no tears; I was never impressed with their food. Want a good sandwich? My favorite place is Tubs Gourmet Subs at 11064 Lake City Way NE. That’s nowhere near Wallyhood… Jimmy John’s is also good, but also not in the hood.
I have been there a handful of times, and it always seemed that I was truly annoying the staff by being there. The last time, I remember walking out thinking “how can they expect to stay in business when they provide such a terrible experience.”
I believe the note taped to the window at the 34th & Stone Subway promises that they’ll be back when construction is finished.
I went once and while it’s better than Subway in say, California, it was still pretty dreadful. Jimmy John’s in the U-District is better for fast food subs, and rumor has it a new indie sandwich place is coming to the old Doggie Style location on Stone @ 45th.
