Stone Way has been a busy corridor this past week, with Eltana Bagels opening at the Prescott Wallingford complex and Joule (re)opening at The Fremont Collective.
Chef Renee Erikson (The Walrus and Carpenter) has also opened her newest restaurant, The Whale Wins, in The Fremont Collective (3506 Stone Way North). The menu features food with influences from southern Europe and northern Africa, with an emphasis on wood-fired vegetables like oven roasted tomatoes, radicchio, or cauliflower. Whole roasted trout, clams, chicken, or beef are also on the menu.
I had every intention of going down to The Fremont Collective to snap a photo of the restaurant, but then I saw this picture on their website. I love this picture. A lot.
The Whale Wins is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00am to 10:00pm and Sunday from 11:00am to 9:00pm. Closed Monday and Tuesday. The restaurant is also serving a limited menu between 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Sorry, no reservations; but if you stop in for a meal this week, let us know how you like it.
