On Thursday, September 13, at 7 p.m. there will be a public meeting on reducing noise from I-5, co-sponsored by the Eastlake Community Council, Wallingford Community Council, and Portage Bay/Roanoke Park Community Council.
The meeting will take place at Pocock Rowing Center (3320 Fuhrman Ave E.). Rep. Frank Chopp, Rep. Pedersen, Rep. Clibborn, a staff person for Senator Murray, and WSDOT representatives will be in attendance. This is an opportunity for the community to ask about plans for completing I-5 noise walls and what the back up plan is for the failure of WSDOT’s test of noise insulation on the I-5 ship canal bridge.
Hi Lee, what do you mean about the “failure”? The test didn’t happen or wasn’t conclusive? Or something else? Thanks!
The “failure” characterization came from those from Eastlake CC organizing the event. However, based on past meetings regarding the issue, I believe that the failure is simply that it didn’t work in reducing noise. The noise in our area is particularly bad because noise generated on the lower (express lanes) level is reflected to the surrounding properties. It is this unique problem that I believe was the focus of the tests.
The problem is that thos enoise barriers do nto work and their salespersons do!
