You may remember back in the beginning of August, we mentioned a mural that Chamber of Commerce President Colleen Kurke was having painted on her salon, Cutz Salon and Gallery on Meridian (see our post, “Mural, Mural on the wall”). The mural is actually a part of a much larger neighborhood project called WUMP! (the Wallingford Urban Mural Project). Here’s what WUMP! is all about, from Colleen:
The Wallingford Urban Mural Project aka WUMP! is a vehicle for bringing artistic talent, local community organizations, and Wallingford neighbors together. Murals create awareness and an appreciation for visual arts, as well as a sense of pride and connection within and throughout the broader community. Through a series of Public Murals, WUMP! aims to enhance the environment and feed the cultural soul of the Wallingford neighborhood.
Colleen and the WUMP! crew are looking for more volunteers (and walls in Wallingford) for this project, and they’re also seeking a videographer to document the project. If you fit the bill, give Colleen a shout at [email protected]. They should have a website up and running soon, too.
