Wallingford’s beloved Bubbles the Turtle needs a fresh coat of paint. The colorful street mural, located at the intersection of 41st St. and Interlake Ave. N., is scheduled for the third annual painting party on Sunday, August 26th. The plan is to start painting around 9 a.m. Painting will take roughly 4 hours.
Interested in helping paint? Come join us! Kids are welcome too. Paint for as little or as long as you want. All the paint is provided, but additional brushes and paint containers are always appreciated. Hope to see you on Sunday!
Note: Bubbles the Turtle is not to be confused with his love interest from the other side of 45th Street, the Ladybug.
Now wouldn’t that make a lovely children’s story? By day, the Ladybug and the Turtle tend to their streets, gently shepherding the neighborhood kids from danger, cradling sunbathing cats in arms, and shooing crows from the curbside gardens. But when the moon is full and all the children are softly dreaming, the Ladybug and Turtle peel up and flutter into the air, meeting over Musashi’s on 45th where they spin and twirl together, then dance and tumble in the wind past Molly Moon’s, Sutra, Chocolati, and Wallingford Center.
Then what? A beer at Al’s? A burger at Dick’s? Perhaps the romantic end of 45th Street is the other way.
Bubbles is all done and looking great on her (his?) second birthday!
The paint makes a great ice skating rink when you bike over it during a wet day-who would I sue?
