Greetings! I’m a Green Lake/Wallingford resident living a block west of McDonald Elementary on 1st Ave. NE. I’m writing to let folks know that my car went missing sometime between Thursday, Aug. 23 – Sunday, Aug. 26. I was backpacking so I don’t know when it was stolen. I wanted to let Wallyhood know because a) the thief may target other cars in the area and, b) if someone sees a white 1992 Honda Accord wagon (plates: ACR3459), please contact me. The neighbors on my block and on 54th and 55th have experienced several clusters of theft (car and house) over the years and this incident, in addition to several car-prowlings and the across-the-street neighbor’s bike theft last month, could be part of another. Or not. In any case, I thought I’d let you know.
If you’ve seen her car, you can contact Sara through us at [email protected].
There is a lot of info on crime in that immediate area.
One big good change factor is that McDonald is opening with school year. Parents, walking children, sports teams, teacher meetings will fill the streets and their positive presence may deter some who use the quiet residential air for theft. It’s a good tiem to connect with McDonald PTA and staff regarding concerns and working together for safety.
Also, FYI that early 90s Hondas are the most commonly stolen car (usually parted out) both in Seattle and nationally.

My neighborhood watch reports a Honda Civic was stolen last week from the 4700 block of Latona Ave NE.
I live in an apartment a couple of blocks away (N.W.) from McDonald Elementary and about 6 months ago there was a car burglary as well as small theft from the apartment lobby. The suspect was caught on tap from surveillance cameras and is a reported cocaine & meth user. I can’t help but think these incidences are related.
