Next Sunday, August 12, Plus One Foundation will be hosting the second annual Family Fun Field Day from 12:00PM – 3:00PM at Meridian Park to raise funds for children with neurological disorders. It’ll be a fun day for families to play field games and chances to win prizes donated by local businesses. From Plus One:
Plus One Foundation is an all volunteer nonprofit funding participation in non-medical activities that build muscle strength and feed the soul helping people with neurological disorders like multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injuries, autism and cerebral palsy. Grants can be for horseback riding lessons to build core muscle strength, Seattle parks swim pass because swimming keeps extremities strong so the ability to walk is not lost, as well as artistic classes to keep spirits up. These activities although beneficial to participants’ health and recovery are not covered by insurance. Plus One fills this gap toward recovery.
The whole family is encouraged to join the fun during Family Fun Field Day. Children and parents participate in field games and craft activities together and share a picnic lunch. University of Washington athletes will distribute medals and certificates of participation to all the kids and the Seahawks Blue Thunder Band will perform a concert.
