Tomorrow is the first of August (gaa-ack! already!) and Wallingford will be buzzing with all sortsa food, art, and entertainment. Here’s the scoop:
Backyard BBQ
Keller Williams and Walgreen’s are throwing a “Backyard BBQ” on the SE corner of Stone/45th, from 5:00-9:00pm. In addition to hamburgers, hot dogs, and root beer floats, they’ll have desserts by Smokey Delights and musical entertainment by brass band Tubaluba (beginning at 6:30pm). Plus, they’ll have a barrel on hand so you can donate school supplies and packaged snacks to the Wallingford Boys and Girls Club.
Wallingford Art Walk
The Wallingford Art Walk runs from 6-9PM throughout the neighborhood. Here are some of the highlights:
All City Paint Supply (4112 Stone Way N. ) Zachary Bohnenkamp – Printmaker/Muralist. Zach was born beside the railroad tracks in Iowa City. He spent most of his childhood in a tunnel beneath the very tracks upon which his first blood spilled. An adventurer by birth rite, he first reached the Gulf of México at age 7 on a raft he fashioned from lilac branches.
Blue Star Cafe and Pub (4512 Stone Way N.) Blue Star will be featuring two artists this month, water color artist, Diana Aurigemma, and collage artist, Linda White. Diana’s watercolor landscapes have been featured in the Oasis Gallery. Check out Diana’s work here: http://www.aurigemmaart.com/. Linda White is a collage artist who creates amazingly realistic landscapes with bits of textured paper, inspired by places she’s explored while hiking in and around Washington. Also at Blue Star: ask for the Art Walkers special….buy one dinner and get the second dinner at 1/2 the price! Valid on August 1st, 2012 – (can’t be combined with any other offer.)
Caffé Appassionato (1218 N. 45th St.) Caffé Appassionato will host musicians Bucket of Honey from 8:00 – 9:00 PM. They will bring bucket loads of sweet music, fun and excitement to 45th & Stone Way. In addition, Caffe Appassionato will feature the paintings of Holly Siburg and will be doing $1 off beer and wine for the night of the artwalk.
FamilyWorks (1501 N. 45th St.) FamilyWorks will feature 2 artists: Bethann Shannon, painter will display her Frida & Sock Monkeys series. Bethann is a multi-media artist, activist and workshop leader. Native American artist, Ken Walton, will share sacred objects and dance regalia. He will also play the flute and paint traditional “war paint” for the kids! Bring the kids for Free Face Painting by Bethann & Ken.
Johnston Architects (100 NE Northlake Way, Suite 200,) From 6-8pm Johnston Architects will be featuring photographs by Melanie Masson in a captivating series called “Passage”, a survey of leading lines on the American landscape. Every glacier, wheel, and footfall that carved these lines bore a purpose, the sheer repetition branding a deeper promise of worth into the soil.
Seattle Mosaic Arts (1325 N. 46th St.) For August we are excited to be showing the work from our very own ceramic sculptor, Brad Scelfo. Brad lives in Seattle, Washington with his partner Alan and pursues his career as an emerging young artist. His studio is based in Everett, Washington where he is part of a large artist collaborative along with many other professional artists. His work focuses on decorative hand-built vessels using both clay and glass, which is influenced by his love of nature and travel.
Wine World & Spirits (400 NE 45th St.) Kristen Winn will be our featured artist. Kristen is a transplant from Alaska, lover of music, and obsessed with light and color. She draws inspiration from the oddness of people, music, the outdoors, Jameson and traveling. Come enjoy Kristen’s art as you sip the nightly selection of wines from Wine World’s Tasting Bar.

Looking forward to the walk. I love my BBQ.
Update. It’s 6:40 and there’s still no food yet at the BBQ.
We had a good time at the Wallingford Art Walk enjoyed The Wonderful New Friends look forward to see You’ll at the Summers End party. If you loved my food tell me, if you hated tell me . I love Cooking everyday. Too bad God sometimes throw unforseen events like 2-3 hour traffic on I-5 and some people are not forgiving even after they taste REALLY food or not.
PEACE to ALL
Smokey Delights, your food was wonderful! I had a hot dog and a big piece of moist and yummy cake. I loved them both!
