Just strolled around the corner to the 7/11 on 1st and 50th to get a Slurpee and the manager asked me to (through you) remind the ‘hood that they’ll be giving away free small Slurpees to the public on 7/11 (next Weds) from 11am – 7pm.
Because remember, nothing washes down the kale, collard greens and mizuna you’ll pick up at the Wallingford Farmers Market at the Good Shepherd Center (Wednesday, 3:30 – 7:00 pm) like a Fanta Blue Raspberry Slurpee.
In fact, it might be helpful if you let Chef Michelle Nguyen of Joule, who will be giving the cooking demonstration from 4 – 5 pm, which flavor of Slurpee you’re planning on ordering. She may be able to suggest an appetizer pairing.
Sounds like you’re using the idea of a slurpee to tempt people to actually eating their vegetables. Why bother? Can’t adults just be adult and eat like one? Do we all have to be tempted with copious doses of sugar just to make it through the day? Slurpees are toxic chemical sludge and the only thing I’d feed them to are raccoons. And I hate raccoons.
Love the plug for the farmers’ market! Very funny blogpost!
bok choi is a better choice for the Fanta Blue Raspberry than mizuna. mizuna is way to spicy for that. I’d pair Fanta Lemon Creme (not Cream) with the mizuna. of course, I know this is a controversial issue and likely to be the first wallyhood post to go past 200 comments…
Cherry slurpee hands down the best thing to wash down roller food. mmmm roller food.
