The transformation of the old Beeliner Diner / abandoned building into the TNT Taqueria (see our May story, ‘Chows Foods to open ‘TNT Taqueria‘ for more info) is making progress, including the addition of a walk-up window.
Along foodie lines, we noticed in the comments section of that post this unanswered question from Abigail:
Please, foodies, post the name of a place to get a delicious , genuine, maybe even grass fed hamburger in Wallingford. Uneeda is outstanding but that’s over near the zoo.
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
(Thanks Jen H. for the tip!)
I just answered Abigail’s hamburger question on the original post. But I’ll answer it here also, we will be serving northwest grass fed hamburgers here at TNT.
Don’t know about grass fed, but here are natural (no antibiotics/hormones) burgers nearby — and not from Uneeda:
Blue Moon Burgers
Hales
Rain City Burgers (great prices!)
Holy (micro) provincialism Batman! Uneeda serves a great burger in a fantastic setting, and the fact that it’s 1/4 of a mile too far to the west is an issue. Jeez. When you live and Wallingford and can’t find your way over to upper Fremont I think we’re starting to get a bit spoiled.
I live not too far from there, but if I considered it easy walking distance for everyone in Wallingford, then by the same measure I’d be obliged to treat the University District the same way for me. I will walk to the U District and back, but not for a burger. You pick a pretty small thing to quarrel over.
Just walk to Uneeda. Then you have excellent justification for ordering a milkshake to go with the burger.
Floor Pie – you might not make it back up the hill to home, though. Those milkshakes are superb. Have to drink up every mouthful in the glass.
