Kathleen Cromp from the Wallingford Senior Community Center, and Jake Weber from FamilyWorks wrote to tell us how touched they were by the generosity of our neighborhood during the GiveBIG event on May 2, and they’ve asked us to pass along the following message to the community:
Dear Wallingford Friends,
FamilyWorks and Wallingford Community Senior Center want to thank Wallyhood and the many community donors for their amazingly generous response to Seattle Foundation’s Give BIG on May 2! Each organization had about 70 donors giving a combined total of over $16,000 toward emergency food, support for families & individuals, and aging/intergenerational programs. These programs help our community members to thrive, engage and become more resilient.
We are very grateful for this action oriented, compassionate community.
Thank you so much for your support!
Jake Weber & Kathleen Cromp
p.s. GiveBIG raised $7.4 million in the 24 hours of the event. And yesterday, The Seattle Foundation, local businesses and philanthropists added $300,000 more to the “stretch pool” making a total of $800,000 available to extend the donations to the participating organizations.
