If you’ve ever been to the Wallingford Playfield on a Saturday in Autumn, then you’ve no doubt seen the frenetic swarm of orange jerseys belonging to the Woodland Soccer Club. Autumn may seem far off, but it’s now time to register your kiddos for the Club’s 2012 Fall Recreational Soccer. There are approximately 1100 kids who play for the Woodland Soccer Club, which is open to all boys and girls ages 5 and up, with the majority of the games and practices held on the Wallingford Playfield. The fall season generally lasts through the end of October, with one practice scheduled during the week and one game scheduled on Saturday.
Children of all levels are invited to join the Woodland Soccer Club. Early registration runs until June 1. Click here to register. Kids under 11 play MOD soccer in which there is no scoring. This type of play also calls for fewer players on the field, allowing kids to have more time with the ball, while learning basic soccer skills and how to work together as a team.
Parents may also volunteer to coach their child’s team. To find out more about coaching opportunities, visit http://www.woodlandsoccer.org/
As a past VP of the Seattle Youth Soccer Association, I can attest to the great work done by the Woodland Soccer Club. It’s one of the classic original youth soccer clubs of Seattle and was nearly built from the ground-up by the late great Seattle Youth Soccer Legend Dave Tulare. Now one of the biggest and most vibrant clubs in Seattle Youth Soccer, the Woodland Soccer club deserves a big endorsement and our full support.
