Tomorrow (Friday, May 4), the kids from The Meridian School will be cleaning up around The Good Shepherd/Meridian Park grounds, and adjacent residential areas as part of the school’s annual two-week long Community Service Celebration. So if you see kids armed with plastic bags and picking up litter, give them a big thanks for their service!
In addition to the clean-up tasks, students will also provide volunteer assistance to Lettuce Link/Solid Ground, Snow Leopard Trust, Seattle Tilth, and a few other Wallingford-based non-profit organizations. They’re also raising “Change for Change” — collecting spare change for local and global charities.
According to Julie at the school’s parent association, “The students collect spare change from their savings, family, friends, and neighbors to support non-profit organizations, researched and selected by each classrooms. This year the benefiting organizations include People for Puget Sound, Wolf Haven, and Drop Foundation, an organization founded by Meridian School student Isabella Todaro to raise money for building sanitary water wells in Uganda.”
