Brooms and rakes? Check. Plastic bags and gloves? Check. Comfy shoes, canned goods, and an appetite for baked goodies? Check, check, and check! Ladies and gentlemen of Wallingford, Earth Day is fast approaching, and that means it’s time once again to clean up our beloved neighborhood.
Everyone is welcome to attend and lend a helping hand (or two) for the third annual “Operation Beautification Wallingford” which takes place next Saturday, April 21 from 11:00AM – 2:00PM at Wallingford Center.
The event is sponsored by the Wallingford Chamber of Commerce, and some of our favorite local organizations will be on hand including:
FamilyWorks,
Wallingford Chamber,
Sustainable Wallingford,
Wallingford Community Senior Center,
Wallingford Neighborhood Association,
Emergency Preparedness and of course, our Wallingford neighbors!
Join your neighbors for a Spring Clean, music, bake sale, food drive and more!
Have tree or fruit tree-related questions? Representatives from City Fruit, the Burke-Gilman Trail Urban Orchard Stewards, and the Tree Ambassadors will be on hand.
So we are supposed to bring our own brooms, rakes, gloves, etc.? And I’m assuming that the canned goods are for a donation to say FamilyWorks? I’m really interested in taking part but I’m feeling vague about how it works!–Any more info greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Judy
Last year, the city donated gloves and bags. I’m pretty sure you don’t need to bring anything else. Yes, the canned goods are for the food drive for Familyworks.
