We’d like to welcome our newest sponsor here on Wallyhood, King County Councilmember Larry Phillips. As a representative of our district, we’ve asked him to share a few words. Take it away, Councilmember Phillips:
I’m Larry Phillips, your representative on the King County Council. I’ve been a longtime representative of District 4 on the council, and starting in 2012, the District 4 boundaries expanded east to 1st Avenue NE to include a large portion of the Wallingford neighborhood. I look forward to getting to know you better and learning more about your neighborhood concerns, particularly as they relate to county services like Metro Transit service, water quality, regional justice, and elections. I serve as the council’s Chair of the Transportation, Economy, and Environment Committee, so my priorities are protecting transit service, growing jobs, and promoting environmental sustainability.
Many thanks to Councilmember Phillips for supporting Wallyhood, along with our other fine sponsors:

If I’m not mistaken, Larry Phillips’ district ends at the 98103 zip code. So if you live east of 1st Ave NE, your councilmember is Larry Gossett (which is why “The 105” has all the bitchin’ food trucks and the raddest people).
Aw Doug, you had to divide this neighborhood, huh? Actually, according to the King County Council site, the boundaries have changed and you are now one of us. Bwa ha ha!
http://www.kingcounty.gov/council/councilmembers.aspx
I think if you zoom way in on that map, you’ll see that East Wallingford is still Gossettville.
I’ll check with the Councilmember’s office. It coud very well be that 98105 folks are better map readers.
The Councilmember’s office verified that I-5 is the eastern boundary.
Phillips’ office is partially correct. North of 60th, his district borders I-5. South of 60th, it’s Gossett’s district. Here’s a link to look up your district. And here’s a link to the new district maps.
I’ll forward this to them.
Can he help us get the AIA boundaries changed??!!!
can he help us with the Skansa.Brooks/Spaghetti Houswe dilemna? We want to have a building but we dont want to use compliance standards drama.
I don’t see a role for Councilmember Phillips regarding the Skanska/Brooks development, given that he represents all of us in District 4, and as we’ve seen, there are quite diverse ponts of view on this topic. {Also, it’s a City of Seattle issue, not a King County Council one.}
I note that Councilmember Phillipps cites Metro Transit service, water quality, regional justice, and elections. At the top of my list would be Metro Transit service, but what do others see as priorities among King County issues affecting our area?
I hope Larry can help save the 26 in the next round of Metro route revisions (coming next year when the Aurora “Rapid Ride” starts).
Thanks, @Doug. You were right and I’ve updated the copy, replacing I-5 with 1st Avenue N.E.
well, we can start with he wants to know more about our neighborhood concerns.. and he is CHAIR of committee of transportation, economy and ENVIRONMENT! he might know someone or something which is helpful. Ultimately the building will likely be built.. but maybe he can help them chop ten feet off the top.
