The folks behind the 3400 Stone Way N. development (now called “Stone34“) are hosting an open house tonight (Thursday, February 16) at the Fremont Abbey Cafe (4272 Fremont Ave N.), from 5:30PM-7:30PM, offering appetizers from Pecado Bueno, and a no-host bar.
The open house will give the public a chance to “view building models and drawings, meet the project team, and get an update on plans for this deep green building from Skanska and Brooks Sports.”
For more information, visit: www.stonethirtyfour.com or on Facebook: www.facebook.com/3400stone.
Is this adequate notice for you?
For who? Me? Unfortunately, I didn’t receive this until last night.
I don’t think they know they are really in Wallingford.
That’s Fremont, my friend!
@FrickFrack — the Abbey Cafe is in Fremont, but 3400 Stone Way is in Wallingford (according to RedFin)
I didn’t know you could have an open house at a separate location, OR before the house is actually built. 😉
Wonder why they didn’t choose to have tonight’s event Gypsy or Solsticio or Essential Baking or Irwin’s– local/closer to their site?
Telling you, the site is very much in the Fremont Urban Village.
@FrickFrack – The Fremont Urban Village extends beyond Fremont and into Wallingford on 34th. The Fremont Urban Village and Fremont are not the same thing.
Got this notice at 5:14 PM today – ??????
What is this Fremont Urban Village you speak of??
It is a zoning overlay.
I heard about this event more than a week ago. The site was very pleasant and good for accommodating the presentation.
I think the building would/will be a tremendous asset to the community and encourage other living buildings (totally internally recycling, reusing water in wonderful and mostly simple ways). However, the systems take up a lot of space. This accounts for requesting the height change. It is actually 10′ higher than the extra they get for the living building. I know they have changed the design to improve sightlines from buildings that will have reduced views.
The building will also encourage better development along Stone Way in the future.
I have no relationship with the developer.

I am sorry that I did not know of this meeting until today (Friday). It would SEEM that it would be easy enough to post in on Facebook, did I miss it there?
Maybe next time it could be posted as an ‘Event’ on Facebook, and there would be broader awareness and participation. (This broad would be there, anyway).
As to the grabbing of more and more height, I call foul on this play.
This building is not ‘green’, it is a building. (Green = trees, natural habitat, clear lakes, etc.)
This building is being built to make some folks MONEY (oh yes, this IS green!!)
If I were the good people of Wall-mont – oh, I guess I am! – I would call foul, and bring the height back down to the maximum allowed in the Urban Hub/Urban Village of Fre-fjord, and not an inch more.
This is Suzie Burke, at it again . . .
I have no relationship with the developer.

Ciao!
It’s nice to finally see what the actual building will look like as shown on the home page of the Stonethirtyfour website. Thus far they have made the upper floors sort of blend into the blue sky as if they don’t exist only focusing our attention on the street level retail. A bit disingenuous if you ask me.
Also, it would be great if some developers would stop pandering to Seattleites by constantly patting themselves on the back about how green they are. Most citizens in this City see right through it.
Overall this is a cool project though. Glad to see it happening.
The bicyclists in the rendering on their homepage should be wearing helmets.
