Are you bored to tears by echos of over-used and under-fulfilled New Year’s Resolutions to “lose 20 pounds,” “stay in touch with old friends,” and “practice simple acts of kindness,” etc, etc? Me too. A few years ago, I decided to make yearly resolutions that would embrace my most intense and far-out wishes for self-improvement, and lo and behold: our fair city offered classes for most of these seemingly random goals. One awesome source for courses right here in Wallinford is the UW Experimental College.
Winter quarter at the Experimental College can help you brush off that dusty sewing machine and learn how to actually use it! Or perhaps this year you’ve vowed to “move with maximum efficiency” and need a little intro to the Feldenkrais Method. Whatever your resolutions may be for 2012, check out the following Experimental College courses taking place right here in the ‘hood:
– Way of the Samurai Sword (1/17-3/6 or 1/19-3/8)
– Copy Your Favorite Garment (2/4/12)
– Basic Use/Care of your Sewing Machine (1/28/12)
– Use/Care of your Serger/Overlock Machine (1/28/12)
– Awareness through Movement: the Feldenkrais Method (1/18-3/7 or 1/20-3/9)
Additionally, the College offers classes in Fremont, the University District and other areas around town. More information and registration at www.exco.org. And happy new year!
