Sock Monster contest: put a word on it!

Perhaps you’ve seen these cute, colorfully worded socks around town:

They’re all the rage among sock fashionistas and were recently featured on NBC’s Today Show as a fun new find. All summer long, Wallingford’s very own Sock Monster (1909 N. 45th St.) has been holding a contest to get customers to come up with clever words they’d like to see on socks. They’ve narrowed the entries down to the top 14 and are asking folks to come in to the shop and vote for the 3 best words by September 23. Here are the entries:

Wallingford single family residential real estate has been interesting this summer, with some great properties changing hands. Year over year numbers have reflected some surprising changes in the market. Wallingford is still faring better than many other Seattle neighborhoods and suburbs and although year over year quantity of sales has decreased, the median sales price has increased both on a monthly and a year to date basis.

What in the Wallingford? Wasn’t that that old series of puzzles, where Wallyhood would post a photo taken somewhere in Wallingford, and then the reader would have to figure out what it was? Yes, that’s the one. But then he put out a puzzle and never announced the winner, and just kind of let the whole thing peter out? Lame.

Reminder: Seattle Public Library closed next week

Heads up once again, Wallingford: Due to citywide budget cuts, all Seattle Public Library locations, including the Wallingford branch, will be closed from Monday, August 29 through Monday, September 5 (Labor Day).

Regular Library hours will resume on Tuesday, September 6.

This also means that the book drops will close on Saturday, August 27 and re-open Tuesday, September 6, when the branch opens at 1pm.…

Zaw Artisan Pizza opens tomorrow

We just heard word from the good folks over at Zaw Pizza that they’ll be opening their Wallingford location tomorrow. The new place is at 4612 Stone Way N. and the phone number is: (206) 297-1334. Their hours will be Sunday-Thursday: 1:00-9:30pm, and Friday & Saturday: 1:00pm-10:00pm. Check it out:
