On October 9th, GraceFeast will celebrate its second anniversary with… guess what? A neighborhood meal! Didn’t see that coming, did ya?

Vivian Little , the neighbor who was kind enough to tell us all about GraceFeast two years ago when it started, extends the following invitation:

I would like to invite you to the weekly, family style meal hosted by the Gift of Grace Lutheran Church (2102 N. 40th St) that is celebrating it’s two year anniversary on October 9th, 2011. All are welcome to this neighborhood meal served at 11:30AM in the lower level of the church.

Last Art Walk of 2011

Last Wednesday was the last Wallingford Farmer’s Market of 2011, and this Wednesday will be the last Wallingford Art Walk of 2011. The Art Walk committee had originally planned to turn the Art Walk into a year-round event, but based on community reaction and declining attendance, they’ve decided to take a break for the next several months, and come back starting in February with an every-other-month event. Tara Shuttleworth, the organizer, wrote:

Our chum to the north, My Green Lake, is reporting that Tangletown’s Bandolero, which morphed from the Pour House, which in turn replaced the Luau Lounge, has shuttered its doors:

Lori Hollow wrote to tell us that she used to substitute teach for Jazzercise classes over at Lincoln High back in the early 90s; but once renovations were slated for the school, the classes had to move further north. Wallingford home to most dangerous intersection for cyclists

Seattle Department of Transportation data identifies the block of Dick’s Drive-In (111 NE 45th St) as 2010’s most hazardous intersection for bicyclists, reports seattlepi.com. Four collisions involving bicycles happened at this site last year, and six over the last three years. Fortunately, none were fatal.

I walked the two blocks to Dick’s Thursday evening to watch bikes and cars. I saw several bikes come downhill in the street, a couple ride uphill on the sidewalk (legal in Seattle), and a few motorists turn into Dick’s or onto 2nd Avenue with cell phones to their ears.
