As their kick ass new website proudly boasts, Changes is having a kick ass Halloween party Monday night.

DJ Ericket will spin.  And there will, of course, be a special appearance by the incomparable Aunt Flo.  Aunt Flo is Changes’ official MC drag queen and winner of Seattle’s best queen contest.

Costume contest judging starts at 10pm.  Third place wins $100, second place earns $200, and the first place prize  is going to give somebody a big ol’ bulging wallet at $300.

Meridian Fall Carnival: Doughnut Dangle

This Saturday (October 29) head on over to The Meridian School at the Good Shepherd Center (4649 Sunnyside Ave. N.) for their annual Fall Carnival from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. This carnival is super great fun, especially for preschoolers and elementary school-aged kids, but the carnival offers fun games and activities for all ages including hay dive, pumpkin painting, cupcake walk, face painting and more. Pledge

The Seattle Times ran a story earlier this week about a good old fashioned hullaballoo at the John Stanford School: incoming principal Jesely Alvarez announced that students would be asked to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of each school day.

While it is technically state law (and has been for decades) that the pledge be recited, the school district has historically left it up to individual principals whether to enforce it. JSIS’s previous principle, Kelly Aramaki, declined to enforce the rule, but according to the Times article, Alvarez is changing that:
