5th Annual Open House Holiday Art & Crafts Studio Sale
Saturday and Sunday, December 3, 4 10 am – 5 pm, 4331 Burke Ave N. Artist Diana Aurigemma and Friends present original Art, calendars, cards, prints, jewelry, and velvet scarves. All art work is original and unique. Join us for some Holiday Cheer, and a chance to purchase some wonderful Holiday gifts. We have a door prize drawing each day and give away a gift of art. Hannah’s Olives by Rina Nicholson
Saturday and Sunday, December 3rd & 4th, 10 am-5 pm. Home Cured Olives sale + authentic homemade Middle Eastern foods like Pomegranate Vinegar, stuffed grape leaves (not Greek style), Yemenite hot paste, unique jams, some plants. Free vegetable seeds and tasting samples will also be available. 4033 Eastern Avenue North, 98103. Price of products varies. Last year’s 16 oz jar of green olives went for about $10. All proceeds of the sale will benefit Women For Women, which helps women war survivors rebuild their lives.
FREE Drum Clinic with Daniel Glass
Saturday, December 3, 2011 – 1:00 PM at The Drum Exchange, 4501 Interlake Ave. N. Call (206) 545-3564 to register as space is limited. All levels are welcome. Daniel Glass is an award winning drummer, author, educator and one of today’s foremost authorities on classic American drumming. He has performed clinics all over the world including PASIC and the 2010 Modern Drummer Festival. Daniel has also toured all over the world with the pioneering “retro-swing” group Royal Crown Revue since 1994 and has recorded and performed with top artists: Brian Setzer, Gene Simmons, Bette Midler & Mike Ness from Social Distortion.
Daniel’s clinic will focus on the evolution of American pop music as seen through the eyes of the drummer. Using dazzling chops and high energy showmanship, Daniel will take you on a whirlwind journey that covers seven decades of groove. His goal? To convince the modern musician that if you want to understand the sounds of today – Rock, Pop, Blues, Funk, Hip Hop, Reggae, Gospel, etc. – it is imperative that you understand your Roots.
Special Concert at Gift of Grace Lutheran Church
Saturday, December 3rd at 5 PM in the Gift of Grace Sanctuary, 2102 N. 40th St. A Special Concert featuring a string orchestra with harp and favorite carols for YOU to sing! Music includes Adagio by Gustavo Gianelli, Elegy by Elgar, “Lord’s Prayer” arranged by Malotte, Concerto Grosso by Vivaldi, and “Canon in D” Pachelbel. Free Will Donations Accepted~Light Supper following at 6:30PM. Donations and proceeds to benefit GraceFeast – a nutritious and delicious meal for the neighborhood, hosted by Gift of Grace every Sunday at 11:30 AM. All are welcome! GraceFeast recently celebrated two years of ministry.
Holiday Concert at Fuel
Saturday, December 3 starting at 6pm. Fuel Coffee 1705 N. 45th Street. Kids are welcome. John Bryan, one of Fuel’s newest faces, currently plays drums with Seapony. For Saturday, he has assembled a dream team comprised of his 3 sisters: Ruthie Bryan, who fronts Be Honest, Ruth Bryan!, Beth Bryan, and 16-year-old Rachel Bryan, who will be performing live for the very first time. The musical Bryan family, joined by Leif Anders from ORCA TEAM, will perform as Sandy Claws & the Skates. Also on hand to crank out the holiday jams: Bam Motoyoshi, with Jasen Samford and Danny Oleson! Together they make up three-ninths of Ex Ohxo, a band that loves Christmas more than any other band in the world. Seth Warren, Fuel barista of more than 2 years, rounds out our lineup with an awesome Christmas DJ set. Seth, AKA DJ Doo Rite, currently plays the fiddle with Sons of Warren Oates and Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground, and DJs a weekly show on Hollow Earth Radio. This is going to be a super-fun show for kids and grown-ups.
Ladies Fashion Clothing Swap & wine tasting night at Fuerte Fitness
Saturday, December 3, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Fuerte Fitness Gym, 1225 N 45th St. Hosted by Nancy Treder, 206-380-4000. This is a clothing swap and your chance to clean out your closets before the holidays!!! Bring in your gently used sweaters, shoes, handbags, coats, hats, jeans, blouses, skirts, jackets, dresses, scarves, and evening wear to swap with other ladies who are refreshing their wardrobes with “new finds.” All unclaimed clothing will be donated to a local charity to help others in need. Please join us, the more the merrier!
