Protected Static sent us a note this afternoon with the Hamilton International Middle School weekly newsletter. The top announcement is a good safety reminder for everyone:
Safety Alert
We place the safety and security of our students as our highest priority, and are sharing the following information with you. Late yesterday afternoon, a Hamilton student was walking from a friend’s house near the school to the bus stop. The student was approached by a man who tried to grab her. The student kicked the man and escaped to the bus, and a police report has been filed.
As we approach winter and our hours of daylight decrease, some basic and easy-to-follow safety precautions from the City of Seattle and King County Metro Transit Police are helpful to know. We encourage you to share them with your students so they can keep this information in mind as they travel to and from school.
You can also try the mini foghorn in a can.
Thanks, Margaret!
I am so glad that student knew what to do!
I encourage anyone who is concerned about their own safety of the safety of their child to come in to the School of Oom Yung Doe, a few blocks from Hamilton Middle School, at 3845 Bridge Way N.
We will offer 2 free weeks of Self Defense Training to anyone that mentions this blog Post!
All of our students no matter the age learn basic ways to be safe and protect themselves from many types of attacks. We also offer advanced Self defense training for those who need it.
Contact me, Greg Martin, at 206-285-9789 or [email protected] if you have any questions about what to do if you are attacked.
Thanks Wallyhood for alerting us to this recent event!

Since I was a freshman in college, I carry a big whistle on my keychain. Fortunately it has never been used in need. But I feel better knowing I could raise a ruckus.
