A big ol’ Wallyhood-style congratulations go out to Patrick McCredie and Peter and Peter Ringold of SATAY Malaysian Street Food (1711 N. 45th Street). SATAY opened for business on December 10 of last year. They’ve had a pretty decent year, too, being on The Food Network and getting some decent local press from Seattle Met and The Stranger. Pretty impressive when you consider these two guys decided to open a restaurant fresh out of college.
Patrick sent over an announcement that read,”This year has been an amazing journey building our business in the heart of Wallingford. We’ve felt the love and support of the Wallingford community as we continue to grow in the hood!”
As a way of saying “thanks” to their customers for the past year, they’ll be giving away free Roti Canai or Curry Puff to anyone who stops by tomorrow (Saturday, December 10) during their regular business hours (11:30am – 9:00pm). In exchange, they’re asking customers to donate the value of their free Roti or Curry Puff to benefit Asian Counseling and Referral Services‘ (A.C.R.S.) “Club Bamboo” which provides meals and activities for seniors, along with health and human services to Asian Pacific Americans living in King County.
According to the announcement,”It’s a great organization which SATAY holds dear to its heart. Patrick got his start cutting veggies, chicken, and Tofu in the ACRS’ Club Bamboo kitchen. Although he got off to a rocky start (cutting fingers and burning hands!), Patrick eventually picked up the basics.”
So, stop by on Saturday, have a little nosh, make a little donation, and congratulate them on their milestone!
