Wallyhood welcomes new sponsor North Central Little League, for ages 5-18. Registration is now open for the 2012 season. Click on their ad in the sidebar to register. Here’s a summary of what the league offers:
North Central Little League serves over 600 families in the Freemont, Green Lake, Wallingford, Phinney Ridge and Ballard neighborhoods.
NCLL is a Double Goal league, which means competing/winning is important, but our focus is more on creating a positive, character-building experience. To that end, for the past 3 years, we have partnered with Positive Coaching Alliance to provide skills to our coaches to teach life lessons as well. We use a “Star Coaches” system to ensure that NCLL coaches get baseball skills training, safety training and Double Goal training.
Our growth is indicative that NCLL continues to be a great place for our community’s children and families. In the 2010 season we had an unprecedented 621 kids, ages 5 to 18, participate in our league. For the 2011 season we grew to over 650 players and 49 teams and we expect our growth to continue in 2012.
In 2012 we are excited to offer a new development program targeted specifically at girls. This program started two years ago with our first girls fast-pitch softball teams and has now expanded to include girls as young as 5 years old. Girls who select this option can join an all-girls baseball team in our T-ball and Machine-Pitch leagues before switching over to softball in our new 7-8’ers league and then continuing on to play softball at all the following levels. It’s a great experience for them.
NCLL’s community ties extend to our sponsors as well. We have partnered with over 35 community businesses. Each of them sponsors a team with their company name on a team’s jersey, which creates quite a connection between our league families and our sponsors. The league’s longest standing sponsors have been supporting our teams for over 11 years. Any local businesses interested in sponsoring their very own baseball (or softball) team, can contact league president James Simone at [email protected]
Our focus on using baseball and softball as not just as sports, but as a vehicles to learn about life has proven successful. Plus our players get the added benefits of making new friends and connecting with their communities under blue skies (sometimes, anyway) with green grass under their feet. We are excited for the upcoming season.
Thank you for your support, North Central Little League, as well as our other fine sponsors!
I have been a volunteer umpire with NCLL for fourteen years. It is truly a great organization. All the time, people assume that umpires take a lot of coach and fan abuse. NOT at NCLL. Coaches, players, umpires, parents, board–all are treated with respect. Your child will make friends and learn life skills–and have fun doing it. I look forward to the first “Play Ball” each spring.
PS. We can always use more umpires. Contact the league and they will arrange to get you the training and gear.
Thanks again for posting this.
Just a reminder that regular registration closes on January 15th. After the 15th, there is a $20 late fee added to the registration.
We also provide scholarships to those who need them.
Thanks again.
