If your kids attend B.F. Day Elementary, you might have heard the great news about plans a playground redesign. I’m especially excited about this because it means that perhaps in the not-too-distant future, my kids will no longer bonk their little melons against the oddly-placed bar at the top of the slide! This project is in the very early design stages, but it gives the community an opportunity to brainstorm ways to make the expansive space surrounding “the big toy” much more usable to the kiddos.
The Playground Design Steering Committee will host three community workshops that are open to the public to generate and share design ideas (psst, my fourth grader wants a zipline). The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 30, from 6-8 pm in the B.F. Day gymnasium (3921 Linden Ave. N). Snacks will be provided and families are welcome. The agenda is as follows:
- 6:00 pm: Presentation by Design Team
- 6:20 pm: Break into groups to generate ideas
- 7:00 pm: Groups present and share ideas
