Not A Number wrote to tell us that they’ll be back on the grid beginning Friday, November 11 (ha! 11/11/11, perhaps a good omen for them, no?) Here’s what Number Six and the Head Cheese had to say:
Not A Number is proud to proclaim ‘I am not a number, I am a FreeMonster!!!’ We will be reopening in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood on Nov. 11th (11/11/11). Our new address in the self-proclaimed Center of the Universe is 720 N. 35th St. Just a short drive or easy bus ride from our old location in Wallingford, with a convenient parking lot right next door, and on street parking right in front of our new store. We are just around the corner from the Troll.
From our old store, just continue west on 45th to Stone Way, left on Stone Way, right on N. 35th, and go about 1/2 mile, and we’ll be on your right (look for the familiar hand chairs). By bus take the number 26 from 45th and Wallingford, get off by the Troll, were just a short 1/2 block walk to our new location.
Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to opening. Thanks for all your patronage in the past! We look forward to seeing you all again in our new location.
The 26 does not go by 45th and Wallingford… did you mean the 16?
With the demise of the local 26, Fremont will be more difficult to access for many folks in Wallingford and Greenlake. I hope Not A Number (and other retailers) will let Metro know how these proposed changes will impact their businesses.
I took the KCMetro online survey and want to go on Wallyhood record as well as being one of the people who relies on the local #26. For decades. It could run hourly as far as I am concerned.
I think the press release meant to grab the #26 at 40th & Wallingford (instead of 45th & Wallingford). It takes you right to the front door of Not A Number’s new store. The #16 does not go into lower Fremont.
Technically, you could take the 16 to 40th and Stone and pick up the 31 or 30 there and go to the same stop. I think with the proposed new routing it would be technically impossible to get from downtown Wallingford to downtown Fremont by bus without walking (I’ve read on the Seattle transit blog about how easy it is to just walk down the steep steps from the foot of the Aurora Bridge down to Fremont, because we know that all Metro riders are fit and ambulatory).
Bus schmus…. take a walk or ride your bike from Wallingford to Fremont.
Please Nancy, don’t give Metro ideas about running the 26 every hour. Half hour intervals are bad enough – although I know, I know, hourly is better than nothing.
